11 Reasons Why You Should Start A Blog
A few weeks ago, we were discussing how to make money online when you have no experience and I mentioned that a lot of people make money by creating blogs. Over the next couple of weeks I am going to be sharing why you should create a blog and what you can do to get started on one, but today I want to give you the 10 reasons why you should create a blog and start making money online. So here are my top 10 reasons why you should create a blog and start making money online right now!
1) Start Building Authority
Everyone wants to build authority. You don’t have to look very far online or offline to see that most people are trying to do it. Authority is a huge topic, but there are four simple things you can do right now: 1) Start a blog on an industry-related topic; 2) Develop a course about what you know (or would like to learn); 3) Formalize your expertise and 4) Affiliate with vendors that have products you want to recommend. In other words, make money online by starting a business based on your knowledge!
2) Learn by Doing
So what’s stopping you from starting a personal finance weblog? Are you worried about writing well? Afraid of putting yourself out there? Think blogging can’t make you money online? Wrong, wrong, and wrong. Get started now. It will be hard at first but if you learn by doing it will get easier quickly. If nothing else start with a journal of your journey to financial freedom – that way every post is automatic content! The only way to not fail is to keep trying and success (and audience) will come eventually. Keep at it!
3) Work on Your Writing Skills
How long has it been since you’ve taken a writing class? If you’re like most of us, your answer is probably, forever. Even if you haven’t been an English major (or any kind of major), don’t underestimate how important it is to keep improving your writing skills. Writing clearly and concisely can help position you as an expert in your field and gain respect among others who may read what you write online.
4) Get Free Gifts and Discounts
As an affiliate, you can offer freebies and discounts to your readers in order to encourage them to purchase more products. For example, you can give away a free product every week to customers who pay for a subscription or create a discount code for 10% off any order that customers use at checkout. This makes your online store more appealing and will increase sales on your site. The good news is there are tons of apps that let you create coupon codes, or you can set up something using Google AdWords (the discount code is applied when people click through from your site). Just make sure it’s easy for readers to use; they shouldn’t have to do math before adding a gift certificate code!
5) Connect With People from All Over the World
We’re not just talking about socializing and meeting new people. Today, blogging is a great way to make money online. In fact, many bloggers write about niche-specific topics in order to establish authority and earn advertising revenue based on visitor traffic to their blogs. Even if you don’t have your own blog yet, there are plenty of others where you can share ideas freely with others and help those who may be interested in your expertise. And while they won’t pay you at first, several of these blogging communities (which are called affiliate programs) will share revenues with you if you ever decide to start selling products within your content.
6) Take Ownership of your Life
While it’s hard to pinpoint exactly why making money online is so fulfilling, there are some compelling reasons why you should make a living off of your life’s work. Not only do you get to live your dream life and pursue your passion, but you also get to decide how much income you really want and need. If that doesn’t sound exciting to you, then take a look at these other benefits and see if any of them sounds appealing: Affiliate marketing allows you to make money online in a simple and stress-free way that makes sense for just about anyone with access to an internet connection. The world is increasingly moving toward ecommerce for goods or services and affiliate marketing provides an alternative means by which entrepreneurs can tap into their existing customer base.
7) Earn Money While Having Fun
Many people start blogs as a hobby, which is perfectly fine. However, many don’t realize that it can also be a source of income. There are many ways to monetize your site and through affiliate marketing, you can make money by recommending other people’s products or services on your site. That being said, there are also ways to make money through a traditional display advertising campaign as well. 8) Create Something that is Uniquely Yours
One of my favorite entrepreneurs, Gary Vaynerchuk, started a wine review show on YouTube to connect with fellow wine lovers. At first it was just a hobby, but once he had an audience and knew he could turn his passion into a business, he made sure to take time each week to create something that was uniquely his—and that brought value to his customers. By creating valuable content that resonated with people, he has been able to grow a huge following and build VaynerMedia into one of New York’s hottest digital agencies. He took what he loved doing most—wine—and started putting out daily videos as part of his workday. And now?
9) There are No Rules
Not only is there a ton of information online about what you should do when it comes to starting a new venture, but rules like I must have five articles published on my site before I launch or I need to spend $x thousand dollars on advertising in order to get traffic are far too often used as an excuse for why something didn’t work. When it comes to blogging, you don’t need those things in order to be successful. In fact, doing everything by rule can (and usually does) lead down a path of mediocrity and failure. So think outside the box and figure out what works best for you and your audience – always keep learning and experimenting!
10) Become an Affiliate
One way to make money from your website is to become an affiliate. This is a pretty simple thing to do and won’t cost you much time or money. Just find a product or service that you like and recommend it to your readers with either an affiliate link or a reference in a review. If someone buys through that link, then you earn a commission (usually around 4-8% of whatever they purchase). Simple as that! Here are some good affiliate programs I can recommend right now: Bluehost , HostGator, and ClickBank . These companies offer low commissions so even if you only get one sale per month on each (which would be great) then you could easily earn $30+ per month. Why not give it a try?
11) Adsense Your Blog
Google Adsense is an easy way to make money from your
website, but you need to display content that people want to read. Don’t just
use Adsense as a last-ditch effort to make some cash—if that’s all you have on
your site, then people will just leave. Instead, build a community and interact
with your audience. If you do it right, they’ll stick around and see ads as
part of your content rather than feeling bombarded by them.
