How to Make Money With Google Adsense
What’s the best way to make money? You can start with AdSense, Google’s program that lets you earn money by displaying ads on your website or in your videos, and sharing the ad revenue with Google. It’s one of the most popular ways to monetize an online business, but how do you get started? Follow this step-by-step guide on how to make money with Google AdSense and you’ll soon be making easy money!
What Is Google Adsense?
Google AdSense is a popular form of contextual advertising from Google that allows publishers (website owners) to earn money from ads served on their site. The way it works is simple: You place (or let Google place) and ad on your website; if somebody clicks that ad, you make a few cents. This pay per click model gets more complex when you factor in impressions, click through rates, and other factors but overall, it's pretty straightforward. To learn more about making money with AdSense in general — and if you want a more detailed tutorial on creating an account with specific instructions — visit our Making Money With Google AdSense series here.
Sign Up for an Account
The first step in monetizing your website is signing up for an account. You'll need a unique identifier, like a Gmail address or other email service, and you’ll be asked to select a password. If you have an existing site that’s making money with AdSense (more on that later), then you can sign in using your existing information. Otherwise, fill out all of your personal details and get ready to start using Google Analytics (see below). The setup process shouldn't take more than 10 minutes.
Getting Started with Google Adsense
Using a tutorial to learn and teach is a great way to progress. Tutorials can be long and involved, especially if you’re trying to build something complicated like an app, but they can also be short, sweet, and focused on one specific task. While tutorials don’t always make money directly (though some do), they’re an excellent way to formalize your expertise on a topic. A tutorial allows you to demonstrate knowledge and potentially helps connect with future customers through a website or app built as part of that tutorial. Some people may go through it for free just for fun!
Earning Money with Google Ads
One of my favorite ways to make money online is through using AdSense by Google, which lets you place ads on your site and get paid for impressions. You can also create an account with ClickBank (more on that below) and make a commission from each sale when someone clicks your ad and makes a purchase. This tutorial will walk you through setting up an account with both, since they’re complementary. In addition, it will show you how to adjust settings so that your site runs as smoothly as possible—and brings in as much money as possible. All of these techniques are explained simply; they’re designed for people who haven’t worked with either before.
Monetizing Your Site by Targeting Keywords
One of the main ways you can make money with your site is by monetizing it. This simply means adding ads to your website so that if people click on them, you make money. One way of making money with Google AdSense (or any other program) is by using keywords in your articles and publishing them on a regular basis. Keywords are basically words or phrases that people use when searching for information on Google. The more popular a keyword is, generally speaking, the more advertisers want to bid for it, and thus will pay more for an ad on top of it. As a result, targeting popular keywords will help you earn more from your adsense account over time.
Build An Effective Landing Page
Once you’ve created your ads, it’s time to put them in front of users. You can do that in a number of ways—whether by buying ads on other sites, working with affiliate programs or taking advantage of social media campaigns—but your landing page has a lot to do with whether those ads will have an impact. Think of it as a billboard: if it doesn’t immediately grab users and convince them to turn into leads or sales, then all your work is for nothing. So how do you make sure users see these new ads? By focusing on design and clear, actionable copy that explains what you offer and gives readers something more than just a click-through.
Create a Destination Page
Since destination pages only show up in search results when someone searches for something specific, you need to create a page with those keywords in mind. The most important part of creating a destination page is choosing your keywords. Think about what terms people might be searching for before they find your site and include them in your page title, headings, and even body text. For instance, if you're running an art-supply store, then you'd want to include words like oil paint, art supplies, and painting supplies throughout your page. That way if someone searches for any of those phrases—whether it's all three or just one of them—your site will show up in search results.
Setting up a WordPress Website from Scratch Or a Blogspot
Regardless of your specialization, whether it's fashion or photography, blogging is a superb way of making money from home. Although it may sound difficult, building a lucrative and widely followed personal or professional site is surprisingly easier than you might think. Wordpress is one of the most popular content management systems on the market today, and for good reason.
Optimize your Site for Search Engines (SEO)
The importance of SEO can’t be overstated. When people are looking for information online, they type in keywords into a search engine. If your site doesn’t rank highly, you will miss out on potential business. To learn more about optimizing your site for search engines, check out our full SEO tutorial.

Making The Most of your Account
Once you have your account set up and approved, it’s time to
find out what kind of revenue you can actually make with it. This is how you
get paid from an advertising network—you serve ads based on your keywords or
websites, and when a visitor clicks on that ad, you get paid for sending them
over. There are two main revenue streams associated with AdSense: placement
revenue and click-through revenue. The placement money comes in at either $0.05
or $0.10 per impression (view of an ad). It doesn’t matter if people click on
your ads or not; all that matters is that they see them, so fill those spaces
up!
